Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade Review

Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade reviewed by Jarrett Green on PC, also available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.

Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade can be fun for a bit, but with repetitive levels that lack a significant challenge for most of the three campaigns, it doesn’t stay that way for long. Though its quick and basic combat is solid, the potential of its diverse weapon selection to bring variety and nuance to battle is undermined by how easy so much of it is without really investing in them at all. Not to mention you’ll see all there is to see, enemy and level-wise, by the end of the first chapter of the first character you choose. And when its stories fail to do much more than provide a flimsy bridge to the next group of baddies to kill, you might be convinced pretty quickly to let sleeping legends lie.

The Top 10 Final Destination Deaths

From fatally complicated Rube Goldbergs to simple hit and runs, variety is the spice of death in the long-running Final Destination series. With Final Destination: Bloodlines bringing the franchise back to life, we thought it was a great time to look back on the sticky mess that fate has left in its wake over the last 25 years.

Final Destination: Bloodlines Review

Final Destination: Bloodlines, reviewed by Tom Jorgensen.

In Final Destination: Bloodlines, death is the life of the party. There’s little novelty to the boilerplate family trauma plot of this sixth Final Destination movie, but what its comedy-forward take on the franchise’s established formula lacks in thematic depth, it more than makes up for with delightful, well-designed kills and boundless gallows humor. A testament to the powerful, simple joy of a well-executed setup and payoff, Bloodlines’ lethal Rube Goldberg machines are tactile and satisfying, benefiting from a solid blend of goopy practical and visual effects. It’s a fantastic jumping-on point for new fans, but the Final Destination faithful are well taken care of with cheeky references to previous movies and a truly poignant farewell from one of the horror genre’s late kings, Tony Todd.

The Precinct Review

The Precinct reviewed by Luke Reilly on PC. Also available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

“The Precinct’s focus on proper arrest protocols and penalising excessive force requires a certain level of patience that not everybody will possess (and it’s a system that eventually wears out its welcome) but I genuinely enjoyed prowling the city for procedural crimes while the story lasted – and the soggy, neon-splashed ’80s setting works wonders. Fallen Tree Games had a previous crack at emulating the top-down shenanigans of classic Grand Theft Auto back with 2019’s American Fugitive, but putting the action on the right side of the law in The Precinct has proven to be far more arresting.”
