Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires – Exclusive Trailer (2025) Jay Hernandez, Raymond Cruz | SDCC 2025

Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires, the bold and original reimagining of the Batman mythology through the lens of Mesoamerican culture, will be available in the US exclusively on digital on September 19 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on September 23.

From Warner Bros. Animation, Ánima and Chatrone, and based on characters from DC, the all-new animated film places the iconic DC Super Hero against the backdrop of the captivating history of Mexico and immerses fans around the world in the exciting culture of Mesoamerica. 

The Spanish audio version of the film features Mexican talent including Horacio García Rojas, Omar Chaparro, and Álvaro Morte.  The English voice cast features Jay Hernandez (Magnum P.I., Suicide Squad) and Raymond Cruz (Sons of Anarchy, The Mayans, Better Call Saul).

The film is directed by Juan Meza-Léon from a screenplay by Ernie Altbacker and based on Batman created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. José C. García de Letona, Fernando De Fuentes S., Carina Schulze, Aaron D. Berger, Jim Krieg, and Kimberly S. Moreau are producers.  Sam Register, Tomás Yankelevich, and Michael Uslan serve as executive producers.

Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires will be available on September 19 on Digital from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Fandango at Home and more. On September 23 the film will be available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD online and in-store at major retailers. 

The film will be available in both Spanish and English-language versions.

This bold reimagining of the Batman legend unfolds within the vibrant and fierce culture of 16th century Mesoamerica. In the time of the Aztec empire, tragedy strikes Yohualli Coatl, a young Aztec boy, when his father is murdered by Spanish conquistadors. To warn King Moctezuma and his high priest, Yoka, of imminent danger, Yohualli escapes to Tenochtitlán. There, he trains in the temple of the bat god Tzinacan with his mentor, developing equipment and weaponry to confront the Spanish invasion and avenge his father’s death. Along the way, he encounters key figures like the fierce Jaguar Woman and the enchanting Forest Ivy.

Forty-one years after the release of the groundbreaking mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, the now estranged bandmates David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls (Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer) are forced to reunite for one final concert.

Spinal Tap II: The End Continues also marks the resurrection of documentarian Marty Di Bergi (Rob Reiner), who once again tries to capture his favorite metal gods as they contemplate mortality—and the hope that their 12th drummer doesn’t join them in The Great Beyond.

Joined by music royalty Paul McCartney and Elton John, Spinal Tap wrestles with their checkered past to put on a concert that they hope will solidify their place in the pantheon of rock ’n’ roll.

Directed by Rob Reiner, the film stars Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Fran Drescher, Paul Shaffer, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Questlove, and Chris Addison.
